MSN massenger user needs to be very cautious!
MSN massenger user should be cautiou as worm virus is currently spreading through MSN massenger. Information security company, Hauri reported on 7 March, 2005 that "Kelvir" worm is spreading by the same way as "Bropia" worm has spreaded via MSN massenger since 3 March of 2005. Hauri insisted that MSN massenger user must not click 'omg this is funny http://XXXXX.home.att.net/cute.pif'link when other user sends the link. Hauri added that if MSN massenger user clicks the link, pif file is placed to pc, and a user will send 'omg this is funny! http://XXXXX.home.att.net/cute.pif' message to other MSN user according to the pif file execution. One of Hauri staffs said "This Kelvir worm is spreaded by sending link address differently from Bropia worm using file attachment." and "This case will not cause a big problem since a user should click the link several times for the worm's propagation." However, he added "Massenger user must be cautious since there is possibility for the infected PC to receive a malicious commands from worm creator or hacker." Hauri announced that it is enabled to repair the infection due to Kelvir worm by updating the latest ViRobot engine. |
